š° Press Coverage
Pittsburgh Steelers
Aaron Rodgers was frank in his admission that yesterday just wasnāt good enough by his standards as the Steelers were outclassed by the Chargers.
āThis was not my best performance,ā Rodgers said. āI got to play better than this for us to win. Whatever it takes ... if itās better checks, if itās better throws, whatever it is, I got to play better. I will. ... We got to play better on offense, for sure. But this is part of the season. Thereās ebbs and flows, thereās ups and downs, and we canāt ride the wave.ā
Rodgers was also forced to take a safety on a sack by Khalil Mack after fumbling following a collision with Troy Fautanu (you can watch that on the Chargersā X page here).
The Steelers QB added: āI didnāt really see anybody open, and I felt like when I stepped up, I saw Mack, and I didnāt realise that he had kind of lost touch with Troy. I should have thrown the ball on somebodyās feet there.ā
Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said the win came from āheart, grit and gutsā.
Detroit Lions
Having lost two of their last three games, head coach Dan Campbell took over offensive play-calling duties and his Lions responded with a five touchdown performance to blow away the Commanders.
Campbell took over from first-year offensive coordinator John Morton and said: āLook, it was honest, it was he and I, and we were good. And like I told him, āMan, I need you ... but I feel like this is something that Iām going to do.ā
āListen, John Mortonās all team. Thatās all he cares about. He just wants to win. He wants to be a part of it. He wants to help where he can, and he was outstanding today.
āHeās a grinder, heās a worker, and he just tries to help and give you anything you can possibly need for the game. Look, if youāre him, of course it probably doesnāt feel too good, but heās also a pro and he understands everything, so we move on.
āOur players were outstanding today.ā
Seattle Seahawks
DeMarcus Lawrence became only the fourth player in NFL history to score TDs on two fumble recoveries in the same game as the Seahawks demolished the Cardinals.
Lawrence grabbed a 34-yard recovery for a TD in the first quarter before adding a second early in the second from 22 yards.
He had just two defensive touchdowns in his 12-year NFL career before yesterday.
āYou canāt draw that up,ā he said, as reported by ESPN. āT-Knight did a great job, running the play exactly how Coach Macdonald drew it up, and I was the lucky recipient of the two forced fumbles. Iāll take it every day.ā
New York Giants
Jaxson Dart became the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to record a rushing touchdown in five straight games but ended the day ruled out with a concussion as the Bears fought back to beat the Giants.
āSo, with Dart it was going back out on the field, just didnāt seem right. So called the trainers over and said, āLetās get him out and make sure he gets looked at,āā head coach Brian Daboll said. āSo, he went in and got looked at, evaluated for concussion.ā
Whether Dart is fit to play the Packers this coming weekend will depend on his progression through the protocol.
Russell Wilson came in at QB for Dart yesterday and, if Dart is a no-go, the starting role will be between Wilson and Jameis Winston.
